Myopia is becoming more and more prevalent globally every year. Highly myopic patients are at increased risk for detrimental eye diseases such as retinal detachments, glaucoma, and myopic macular degeneration. These eye diseases can cause permanent blindness, and eye care practitioners should be aware of the dangers of myopia.
