A Step-By-Step Approach to Presbyopia Drops
Dr. Davison started by discussing how presbyopia is an unmet need, how many of our patients are self-treating and the pros and cons about current options available. She also spoke about the psychological impact of presbyopia.
She discussed the mechanism of action of current, FDA approved treatments for presbyopia, as well as contraindications and side effects.
She then talked about the clinical experience — including ideal patient selection, clinical examination protocols, prescribing protocols, and clinic workflow integration.
Lastly, she spoke about how including these treatments can create a premium experience and increase revenue in our practices.
Top Tips for Successful Dry Eye Diagnosis
Dr. Kramer started by discussing why dry eye is often missed, including the fact that there is no single gold standard test, signs don’t always equal symptoms and dry eye is chronic and progressive.
She then spoke about efficient chair-side screening questions and screening tools, including tear film stability, ocular surface staining, and tear film osmolarity.
She then went into subtyping, or looking at signs and symptoms to determine, “what kind of dry is this?” She also shared the findings of the TFOS DEWS III report in detail.
Lastly, she went step by step through the dry eye screening and examination protocol she uses in her practice.
